EU Collaboration
The commission met with EU Special Representative for Human Rights, Mr. Eamon Gilmore, to discuss its objectives, achievements, and challenges. Both sides addressed past violence in DDS, future cooperation, and ways to work together effectively.
Launch of Victim Registration Process in Jigjiga
The commission launched a workshop in Jigjiga to identify victims of violence from 1991 to 2018, involving officials, elders, and victims. Registration will take place at multiple locations, with civilians urged to participate and share their experiences.
Advisory Meeting
The leadership of the Commission for Investigating Violence in the DDS region held a meeting with the advisory committee, where they discussed the commission’s performance, the role of the advisory committee in its work, and participation in awareness efforts and information gathering. The advisory committee consists of representatives from various sectors of society, especially elders, scholars, and women.
Commission Meeting with Doollo Community on Crime Analysis
Officials from the violence investigation commission, led by Deputy Commissioner Shafici Sayid Luqmaan, met with various sectors of the Doollo region community to discuss analyzing crime-affected areas and including overlooked districts. The participants, including victims, elders, mothers, scholars, and youth, praised the commission’s efforts as groundbreaking and essential.
